HR109 is a resolution recognizing the historical significance of the Pinedale AssemblyCenter in Fresno Countywhere Japanese Americans were interned during World War II.

WASHINGTON,D.C. - Legislation toaid Valley farmers and workers, H.R. 925 was introduced today in the U.S. Houseof Representatives by a bipartisan coalition of 26 California House members ledby Congressmen Jim Costa, D-Fresno, and Devin Nunes, R-Tulare.

Senator Barbara Boxer introduced a bill in the U.S. Senatetoday containing the same provisions.

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman Jim Costa, D-Fresno,will participate in a joint news conference to discuss bipartisan legislationwhich will provide emergency disaster assistance related to the recentfreeze. The bills will be introduced Wednesday in both the House andSenate.

At the Washingtonnews conference Costa will join Senator Barbara Boxer and Congressman DevinNunes, R-Tulare, to discuss the legislation. Senator Boxer will introducethe emergency legislation in the Senate and Costa and Nunes will co-sponsor theHouse bill.

The ListeningSession will provide an overview of the Bush Administration's proposals for theFarm Bill and industry stakeholders with the opportunity to discuss issuesrelated to the Farm Bill and its impact on the CentralValley.

WASHINGTON,D.C. - The continuingfederal budget resolution passed by the House Wednesday contains money thatcould be used to complete construction of the Mendota Federal Prison, accordingto Congressman Jim Costa, D-Fresno.

Included in the Bureau of Prisons portion of the continuingresolution is more than $432 million in prison construction funds.

FRESNO, CA - Citing growing concern for creating an environmentconducive to learning, Congressman Jim Costa (D - Fresno)announced today that the HanfordElementary SchoolDistrict will receive $391, 104 from theElementary and Secondary School Counseling Demonstration Program. This grant isunder the auspices of the U.S. Department of Education with the purpose ofestablishing or expanding counseling programs, and will be provided over athree-year period.

WASHINGTON, DC -In a letter to the Federal Aviation Administration, Congressman Jim Costa(D-Fresno) today expressed his concern over the proposed transfer of the FresnoTerminal Area Approach Control to LasVegas.

"There are many areas of concern that need to bemeticulously thought out prior to any decision," Costa noted.
