FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – The Fresno Economic Opportunity Commission (EOC) has secured $1.5 million in federal funding for a program that will help young Fresno residents from underserved communities to enter the workforce.
The funds are a renewal from the award of a grant from the U.S. Department of Labor. The grant’s goal is to provide employment services and training under the name of YouthBuild.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Jim Costa (CA-16) voted to fund $24 million in Community Project Funding for 15 local projects in the San Joaquin Valley, through the Fiscal Year 2023 government funding bill. This funding responds directly to some of the most pressing needs in Fresno, Madera, and Merced Counties. The bill now heads to President Biden’s desk to be signed into law.

Fresno State opened in 1911 as what was then called Fresno State Normal School. Today it is officially called California State University, Fresno.
Regardless of the name, there is no question of the huge role the university has had over its 111-year-history in the educational advancement of the San Joaquin Valley.
