FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – An aerial firefighting system built in Fresno by Caylym Technologies is used by eight countries worldwide to fight wildfires. However, it is still not used in the U.S.

According to Caylym Technologies, their air dispersal system provides a light rain that can cover over a quarter of a mile when fighting fires, and they use 264 gallons of water packed inside a cardboard box.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Jim Costa (CA-21) and Congressman David G. Valadao (CA-22) introduced the Emergency Wildfire Fighting Technology Act. Some of California’s largest and most destructive wildfires have happened in the last five years, underscoring the urgent need to increase investment in alternative firefighting systems. This bipartisan legislation seeks to meet that need by evaluating and updating deployment protocols for Containerized Aerial Fire Fighting Systems (CAFFS).

WASHINGTON – U.S. Representatives Jim Costa (CA-21) and Brad Finstad (MN-01) introduced the Growing Rural Ag Infrastructure Needs to Deliver Rising Yields (GRAIN DRY) Act, which would expand the Farm Storage Facility Loan Program (FSFL) through the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to include storage of propane for agricultural purposes.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Jim Costa (CA-16) voted to fund $24 million in Community Project Funding for 15 local projects in the San Joaquin Valley, through the Fiscal Year 2023 government funding bill. This funding responds directly to some of the most pressing needs in Fresno, Madera, and Merced Counties. The bill now heads to President Biden’s desk to be signed into law.
