Costa Issues Statement on Passage of the Protecting America’s Strategic Petroleum Reserve from China Act

WASHINGTON - Congressman Jim Costa (CA-21) released the following statement after the House passed H.R. 22 - Protecting America’s Strategic Petroleum Reserve from China Act, legislation that would prohibit the administration from selling any products from the SPR to China or any entity that intends to export the products to China.
"We need to modernize our energy infrastructure and produce more energy here at home. The release of oil from our strategic reserves helped ease financial burdens on American consumers, but we need to ensure it does not end up in the hands of our adversaries and those who are a threat to our national security. Congress could further protect American interests by bringing legislation (Banning Oil Exports to Foreign Adversaries Act) to the floor, of which I am a co-sponsor, to prohibit other adversaries like Iran and North Korea from purchasing American oil." said Costa.
