Fresno, CA - Today, Congressman JimCosta (CA-20) announced grant funding totaling near $135 million that is availablefrom the United States Department of Justice's Office of Community OrientedPolicing Services (COPS). Three grantsare currently available to select law enforcement agencies: InteroperableCommunications Technology program, Secure our Schools program and TribalResources Grant program.

"Thesegrant programs are assets to the community and all who are eligible shouldapply," Congressman Costa said

Fresno, CA - Today, Congressman JimCosta (CA-20) announced that schools are eligible to apply for the LiveIn-Flight Downlink offered by NASA Spaceflight Education Opportunities (NSEO);which allows students, educators and community members to communicate within-flight astronauts.

"Thisis an exciting chance for students to gain first-hand knowledge on a range ofsubjects from interacting with crewmembers on an in-space flight," CongressmanCosta said.

Washington, DC-Today, Congressman Jim Costa (CA-20), a co-founder of the CongressionalVictims' Rights Caucus, announced that the Crime Victims Fund is maintained inthe House Appropriations bill. ThePresident's budget proposed a $1.2 billion rescission of the Fund. Fortunately, the Science, State, Justice andCommerce House Appropriations bill does not include the rescission.

Fresno, CA - Today, Congressman JimCosta (CA-20) announced the availability of funds from the United StatesDepartment of Homeland Security's Office of State and Local GovernmentCoordination and Preparedness (SLGCP). Grants are available to local fire departments to recruit, hire andretain qualified volunteer and career firefighters.

"Alleligible Fire Departments should apply for these funds, which will greatlyassist them in their role as facilitators of public safety," Congressman Costasaid.

Fresno, CA - Today, Congressman JimCosta (CA-20) announced that two health organizations in the 20^thdistrict will receive federal funding, totaling near $678,000, from the UnitedStates Department of Health and Human Services. National Health Services, Inc. in Shafter and Clinica Sierra Vista, Inc.in Bakersfieldhave been awarded funds to expand medical capacity and provide oral healthaccess.

"Theavailability of proper health care to all citizens is important and these fundswill help to provide essential health related services," Congressman Costasaid.

Fresno, CA - Today, Congressman JimCosta (CA-20) announced that Community Action Partnership Bakersfield of Kernhas been selected to receive funding, totaling near $100,000, under the CarolM. White Physical Education Program from the United States Department ofEducation.

"Physicaleducation is an important aspect of our educational system and these funds willallow schools to provide adequate activities for students to learn abouthealthy ways of living," Congressman Costa said.

Fresno, CA - Today, Congressman Jim Costa (CA-20)announced that approximately $525,000 has been awarded to the City of Firebaugh from theDepartment of Housing and Community Development's HOME Investment PartnershipsProgram.

"Thesefunds play an integral role in creating and maintaining housing activities,"Congressman Costa said.
