Washington, D.C. - Today, Congressman Jim Costaannounced that California's20th Congressional District will receive funding from H.R. 3, "The TransportationEquity Act."

Fresno County will receive $7.6 millionfor Freeway 180 improvements from Hughes/WestAvenue to Brawley. In addition, Fresno County Council of Governments (COG) will receive $5.3million for rehabilitation, repair and/or reconstruction of deficient two-laneroads that connect to Interstate 5, State Route 180, State Route 41 and StateRoute 99 countywide.

Fresno, CA - Today, Congressman Jim Costa (CA-20)announced the City of Bakersfieldas the recipient of an Economic Development Initiative grant from the Departmentof Housing and Urban Development in the amount of $277,750.

"Maintaininga safe and pleasant atmosphere in which Bakersfieldresidents can reside is an important goal and these funds will aid in thecity's attempt to achieve such a goal," Congressman Costa said.

Washington DC- Congressman Jim Costa (CA-20) has issued the following statement onRepresentative Richard Pombo's introduction of the "Threatened and EndangeredSpecies Recovery Act of 2005."

"I appreciate the effortsthat Chairman Pombo and my colleagues in the Resources Committee areundertaking to draft legislation to reform the Endangered Species Act.

"While I was in theCalifornia Legislature, I led an effort to provide the first meaningful reformas it related to the incidental and accidental taking in agriculture.

Fresno, CA - Today, Congressman Jim Costa (CA-20)announced public broadcasting funds awarded to Kern Countyfrom the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. More than $8.8 million will be awarded to radio stations across the United Statesto help with the transition to Digital Services.

"Digitaltechnology greatly enhances radio stations' ability to provide services to thepublic," Congressman Costa said.
