WASHINGTON, D.C. – In a letter to the House Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice, and Science Appropriations, Congressman Jim Costa (D-Fresno) called for additional funding for Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) Mendota. The additional funding, in the amount of $27.4 million, would allow FCI Mendota to purchase needed equipment, hire staff and continue its activation process.

The measure would end special treatment for the insurance industry that allows them to fix prices, collude with each other, and set their own markets without fear of being investigated. H.R. 4626, the Health Insurance Industry Fair Competition Act, passed with overwhelming bipartisan support by a vote of 406-19.
