More than $69 million in direct funding is headed to the Central Valley and Northern California for federal projects approved by the Appropriations Committee, including a multi-million dollar water project in Gustine.

The City of Gustine will get $3 million to install a 1-million-gallon water tank storage system and booster pump station to replace the current 75,000-gallon tank. The City also will get $950,000 to complete the Water Loop Line Project to build out a safe water distribution system.

Rep. Jim Costa, D-Fresno, used an announcement about a $26 million project replacing Highway 99 bridges over Cottonwood Creek in Madera County to deliver even bigger news Friday.

Joined by state Transportation Commission Chair Lee Ann Eager, Costa said that future funding from the $1.2 trillion federal infrastructure bill will widen Highway to six lanes from Avenue 12 to the San Joaquin River.

Four brand new YARTS buses are now available, extending the Highway 41 corridor.

"There was absolutely no way, that we could pass up the opportunity to ensure that our residents here in Fresno, as well as those passing through our airport, and visiting would not have the ability to access the gem that we have in Yosemite," said Fresno Mayor Jerry Dyer.
