January 3, 2025

WASHINGTON – Congressman Jim Costa (CA-21) was sworn in as U.S. Representative of California’s 21st Congressional District for the 119th Congress, beginning his eleventh term representing the San Joaquin Valley in Congress.

"I am deeply honored to represent the people of the San Joaquin Valley in the 119th Congress. I remain committed to championing key priorities, such as lowering costs for families, repairing our aging water infrastructure, and building a medical school in the Valley. Now more than ever, Congress must rise above partisan gridlock and focus on governing effectively. Our constituents deserve nothing less than a government that delivers real solutions and progress."said Congressman Costa.

In the last Congress, Congressman Costa introduced 26 bills and cosponsored over 580 bills, including the Social Security Fairness Act, and the National Plan to End Parkinson’s Act, which were signed into law.

Costa secured over $7.5 billion for infrastructure across the San Joaquin Valley, such as California’s High-Speed rail, the Friant-Kern Canal, and Fresno-Yosemite International Airport. Additionally, his office successfully returned over $306 million in benefits to constituents from federal agencies like the VA, IRS, and Social Security.
