FRESNO, Calif. - Congressman Jim Costa (CA-21) released the following statement on President Donald Trump’s abrupt firing of the Librarian of Congress, Dr. Carla Hayden.

"President Trump’s firing of Dr. Carla Hayden is a disgraceful partisan attack on a respected public servant. Her dismissal is not just an affront to her historic service but a direct attack on the independence of one of our most revered institutions, the Library of Congress. Her leadership transcended politics; she is respected by both Democrats and Republicans. Public service should be valued, not politicized."
