Rep. Jim Costa Recognizes Milestone for Visalia’s New VA Clinic
VISALIA, Calif. – On the first anniversary of the Visalia VA Community-Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC), the Office of Congressman Jim Costa (CA-21) recognized the transformational impact the Visalia VA Outpatient Clinic has had on the veterans of Tulare County.
The Office of Congressman Jim Costa presented a Special Certificate of Recognition by the United States Congress commemorating the anniversary and reaffirming the Congressman’s longtime role in securing federal support for expanded VA infrastructure in rural and underserved regions.
BACKGROUND
The Visalia VA Community-Based Outpatient Clinic is one of the most advanced outpatient facilities in the San Joaquin Valley. Backed by Congressman Jim Costa’s efforts to expand VA funding in underserved areas, the 23,300-square-foot center offers Valley veterans expanded access to primary care, mental health, and specialty services like audiology, optometry, and x-ray imaging. With an on-site pharmacy, telehealth capabilities, and over 100 gated parking spaces, the clinic was built to ensure local veterans receive the high-quality care they’ve earned, close to home. The clinic opened last year, replacing the outdated Tulare site.
Costa, who has secured millions in funding for veteran health initiatives across the Valley, said facilities like Visalia’s are a model for how the country must invest in local care. In recent years, he helped pass the Sgt. Ketchum Rural Veterans Mental Health Act, supported expanded outpatient clinic construction funding through the VA, and pushed for increased investment in telehealth to meet the needs of rural veterans.
