Rep. Jim Costa Blasts Trump’s Unconstitutional Attack on the Department of Education
FRESNO, Calif. – Congressman Jim Costa (CA-21) released the following statement after President Donald Trump signed an executive order attempting to abolish the United States Department of Education.
“President Trump says he’s putting America first, but instead, he’s putting America’s kids last. He continues to abuse his power by trying to abolish the Department of Education and limit access to public education. This reckless executive order threatens vital K-12 funding, financial aid for college students, and protections for students with disabilities and special needs. The Constitution is clear: the President cannot abolish a department created by Congress,” said Congressman Costa.
