January 31, 2023

WASHINGTON - Congressman Jim Costa (CA-21) issued the following statement after he was selected to serve on the House Natural Resources Committee in the 118th Congress. Costa is a senior member of the committee, which he has served on since 2005.

“Our Valley relies on water. Amid a severe drought in the West, we need to enact common-sense policies to create a reliable water supply to grow our food while having water for people and the environment,” said Costa. “As a senior member of the House Natural Resources Committee, I will continue to do all I can to fix our broken water system, protect our public lands, and safeguard our energy security for the future.”

In addition, Costa was appointed to continue serving on the Water, Wildlife, and Fisheries Subcommittee within the Natural Resources Committee.

The House Natural Resources Committee considers legislation and conducts congressional oversight on all issues within the Committee’s jurisdiction, including American energy production, water, mineral lands and mining, wildlife, public lands, oceans, indigenous affairs, the U.S. Insular Areas, and all activities of the U.S. Department of the Interior, the U.S. Forest Service, and the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration.
