Costa to serve on House Agriculture Committee in the 118th Congress

January 31, 2023

WASHINGTON - Congressman Jim Costa (CA-21) issued the following statement after he was selected to serve on the powerful House Agriculture Committee in the 118th Congress:

“California’s 21st Congressional district is an agricultural powerhouse, we feed not only the country, but the world,” said Costa. “I am honored to continue my work as a senior member of the Committee to advocate on behalf of the San Joaquin Valley and California agriculture. I look forward to working across the aisle to craft the upcoming farm bill, leading the charge to fight hunger, and delivering results for farmers, small businesses, and rural America.”

The House Agriculture Committee is responsible for providing oversight and establishing policy on agriculture and rural America. Costa and the committee will be responsible for reauthorizing the farm bill, a legislative package that has a significant impact on agricultural production, biotechnology, nutrition, broadband, and other key areas in the agricultural sector.

Costa is a third-generation farmer and senior member of the House Agriculture Committee. This will be the fourth farm bill that Costa will craft and reauthorize in the United States Congress.
