Costa, Golden elected as Co-Chairs of the Blue Dog Coalition for the 118th Congress

WASHINGTON – The Blue Dog Coalition, representing Democrats focused on fiscal stability and national security, announced the election of their leadership team for the 118th Congress.

Congressman Jim Costa (CA-21) will serve as Co-Chair of Policy and Legislative Strategy, and Congressman Jared Golden (ME-02) will serve as Co-Chair of Administration and Communications. 

Rep. Costa has represented the San Joaquin Valley in the United State House since 2005. Raised on a dairy farm, Rep. Costa has applied his farming background to policy successes on water, agriculture, healthcare, and the economy. He has been recognized by the American Farm Bureau Federation and U.S. Chamber for his work on Capitol Hill.

“Blue Dogs have always looked for creative, commonsense policy solutions that get things done for our districts. I look forward to working on a bipartisan basis to make a difference in the 118th Congress,” said Congressman Jim Costa.

Rep. Golden is beginning his third term in the U.S. House. A native of Leeds, Maine, Rep. Golden served combat tours in Afghanistan and Iraq, was a policy advisor on the U.S. Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee and represented Lewiston, Maine in the Maine State Legislature.

“I’m humbled by the confidence of my colleagues and look forward to working with them to uphold Blue Dog principles: protecting the financial stability and national security of the country,”said Congressman Golden.“We believe that the American people have entrusted their representatives to put politics and personal interest aside to pursue the common good. This Congress must confront significant fiscal and national security challenges in the months ahead and we stand ready as BlueDogs to serve the interests of our country.”

The Blue Dog Coalition is an official caucus of the U.S. House of Representatives founded in 1995 and comprised of Democrats focused on fiscal stability and national security.
