Costa applauds U.S. Senate Confirmation of Judge Ana de Alba to the Ninth Circuit Court

WASHINGTON - Congressman Jim Costa (CA-21) released the following statement after the United States Senate confirmed Ana de Alba of California to serve as a Judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. 

“Judge Ana de Alba has dedicated her career to public service and improving our legal system. A native of Dos Palos and an experienced jurist, she brings a wealth of knowledge and experience, which will be an asset to the Ninth Circuit Court. Her story will continue to inspire young aspiring lawyers in the San Joaquin Valley who hope to make a difference in their community.” said Costa. 

Judge de Alba’s confirmation now leaves the vacant judgeship in the U.S. Eastern District Court of California, which serves over 8.4 million. Covering many of the fastest-growing areas of California, the Eastern District cannot keep up with the skyrocketing caseload and staffing shortages. This makes it more critical for Congress to pass Costa’s bill, the CASE LOAD Act, which would create five additional judgeships to ensure the court can fulfill the American promise of the federal judicial system.
