EXCLUSIVE on Morning Ag: Recognizing 70th anniversary of Food for Peace
FIRST IN MA: Reps. Jim Costa (D-Calif.) and Dusty Johnson (R-S.D.) are introducing a resolution today reaffirming support for Food for Peace on the food aid program’s 70th anniversary.
Food for Peace was established on this day in 1954 to send U.S. agricultural commodities overseas to countries struggling with hunger or famines. Costa and Johnson’s bipartisan resolution calls for “continued prioritization of funding for Food for Peace programs.”
The international aid program needs to be reauthorized in the upcoming farm bill, leaving future funding levels up in the air.
