Rep. Costa $3.3 Million Grant For Kings Community Action Organization
WASHINGTON, DC- Today, Congressman Jim Costa (D-Fresno) announced that a grant of $3,373,245 has been awarded to the Kings Community Action Organization in Hanford, CA their for Head Start and Early Head Start program. These funds are being award through the United States Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Head Start program title, and will be used to make improvements to the Head Start program in Hanford.
"This is great news for Hanford," said Costa. "Head Start programs are critical for young children to get a jump-start on their education. I am looking forward to see what the program does with this grant money."
Head Start provides comprehensive early childhood education and development services to low-income preschool children on a part- or full-day basis. Under current law, Head Start funds are provided directly by HHS to local grantees, which must comply with detailed federal performance standards.
