HOUSE PASSED LEGISLATION FOR KATRINA

Washington,D.C. - Today, the United StatesHouse of Representatives passed emergency funding legislation for HurricaneKatrina. This legislation includes $10billion in disaster relief for the Federal Emergency Management Agency(FEMA). This funding will help meet theimmediate needs from the consequences of Hurricane Katrina

In addition, the legislation includes $500 million for theDepartment of Defense expenses. Thisfunding will be used to cover the costs of emergency hurricane expenses ofevacuation, emergency repairs, deployment of personnel and other expensesresulting from immediate relief efforts.
