Costa Statement on Terrorist Attacks in Paris

Fresno, CA – Representative Jim Costa (CA-16) released the following statement in response to the terrorist attacks in Paris this past Friday.

"My thoughts and prayers are with the people of France, especially with the victims and their families.

"Clearly, the United States, our allies, and those that oppose terrorist groups must come together on a comprehensive plan for eliminating terrorist organizations like ISIL and Al-Qaeda. The time has come to draw a line in the sand and for America to provide leadership and use all the resources at our disposal to eliminate terrorist organizations and their supporters.

"I intend to be part of a bipartisan effort to ask the President to put together and implement a comprehensive plan with our allies. Together, if a strong global coalition is put in place, we can successfully combat terrorism and make terrorists pay for their horrific crimes against humanity.

"We must understand that this will be costly and sacrifices will have to be made, but a long-term comprehensive plan is required to protect our freedoms and way of life."
