Costa Statement on Passing of the Global Respect Act

WASHINGTON- Rep. Jim Costa (CA-16) released the following statement after House passage of H.R. 3485 the Global Respect Act, which Costa is an original cosponsor. The bill makes a bold step in protecting the rights of the global LGBTQ+ community.

"This legislation affirms the United States as a global leader in creating an inclusive society for LGBTQ+ individuals, both at home and abroad," said Costa. "We are sending a strong message to the international community that the United States will not tolerate doing business with those who commit acts of hate against the LGBTQ+ community. It is critical we continue the fight for equality."
