Costa Statement on Hamas Rocket Attacks

(WASHINGTON) – Congressman Jim Costa (CA-16) released the following statement on escalating rocket attacks by Hamas:

As we know, our friend and ally Israel lives in a tough neighborhood," said Costa. "The recent rocket attacks by Hamas once again confirm their intent. Israel has the right to defend itself against these atrocities and we know the purpose of this assault is to propagate terror and derail prospects for peace.

"These civilian deaths are a tragedy and we mourn their loss. Unfortunately, Hamas' continued attacks risk killing more civilians, including innocent Palestinians. The extremist forces in Jerusalem have made a bad situation even worse and these provocative cases must be de-escalated to resolve this crisis. I'm committed to continuing to support Israel and a peace process that is critical to resolving conflict in the region."
