Costa Statement on Expansion of Commodities Eligible for CFAP
(FRESNO) – Congressman Jim Costa (CA-16) released the following statement after the U.S. Department of Agriculture announced additional commodities to be made eligible for the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program (CFAP):
"Today’s announcement is a welcome step for our farmers who have been hit hard by this pandemic, however the Administration’s decision to continue to exclude pima cotton is inexplicable,” said Costa. “I’ve led multiple letters urging Secretary Perdue to include additional commodities like walnuts, apples and other specialty crops in CFAP and I’m pleased eligibility for these producers has been expanded. I’m hopeful that the Administration will continue to explore ways to expand CFAP eligibility and help American agriculture through this crisis."
