Costa Praises Governor Newsom Water Plan
Washington, D.C. - Congressman Jim Costa (CA-16) released the following statement on Governor Gavin Newsom's Executive Order directing state agencies to prepare a water resilience portfolio for California:
"I thank Governor Newsom for his directive to find new ways to build a climate resilient water system for our state,” said Costa. "Climate change is having a profound impact on our water supplies and leaving this crisis unchecked will be devastating for our valley and our state as a whole. We must use all the tools in our water toolbox to find solutions to this crisis. I am committed to working with the Governor to find a comprehensive approach to tackling this issue."
The order directs the secretaries of the California Natural Resources Agency, California Environmental Protection Agency, and the California Department of Food and Agriculture to identify and assess a suite of complimentary actions to ensure safe and resilient water supplies, flood protection, and healthy waterways for the state's communities, economy, and environment.
