(Washington D.C.) – This week, a House Foreign Affairs Committee delegation, led by Chair Gregory W. Meeks, returned from its travel to Lisbon, Portugal, and Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

Members of the Foreign Affairs Committee including Representatives Bera, Allred, Wild, Jacobs, and Costa all joined Chairman Meeks as part of the delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly's 67th Annual Session. At the NATO PA Annual Session, the delegation debated and voted on resolutions regarding relations with Russia, the ongoing crisis in Belarus, and the role of disinformation in society. The delegation also supported NATO PA President Representative Gerald E. Connolly's proposal for the establishment of a Democratic Resilience Center within NATO Headquarters.

In Tashkent, the delegation met with Uzbek government leaders to convey their appreciation for the support Uzbekistan provided to the U.S.-led evacuation efforts from Afghanistan and discuss regional security challenges. The delegation had the chance to engage in a productive dialogue with Uzbekistan's Presidential Envoy on Afghanistan Ismatilla Ergashev, and participate in an open dialogue with Uzbek students studying public policy and international relations.
