Costa Discusses US-Portuguese Relations at 2017 Portugal Economic Forum

June 21, 2017

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Jim Costa (CA-16) attended the 2017 Portuguese Economic Forum on Tuesday. The forum, which took place in New York City, explored ways to secure and strengthen Portugal's economy as a key player in both regional and global economic systems. Rep. Costa discussed transatlantic alliances with the European Union's Ambassador to the United Nations, João Vale de Almeida, before participating in a larger panel roundtable that focused more closely on the Portuguese-US economic relationship.

"It was an honor to be invited to this year's Portuguese Economic Forum," Costa said. "This is an excellent opportunity to discuss ways to facilitate mutual investment between the United States and Portugal. It is important that we strengthen the economic and political ties between the US and Portugal, one of our oldest allies."

The Portugal-US Chamber of Commerce and AICEP Portugal Global organized the annual event this year. The morning's presentations revolved around staying abreast of evolving and changing markets, spotlighting topics such as innovation, market drivers, and changing political dynamics.
