Costa Continues to Fight for Immigrant Families in the Valley
Washington, D.C. – Today, Rep. Jim Costa (CA-16) released the following statement after the U.S. Supreme Court’s 4-4 ruling on the U.S. v. Texas:
“Undoubtedly, today’s ruling is a setback to the progress made for immigrant families in the Valley and throughout the United States, but that does not mean we will stop fighting for these important policies that keep families together,” said Rep. Costa. “I will continue to strongly support expanded Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) and Deferred Action for Parents of Americans (DAPA). Our country’s current immigration system is not sustainable, it does not make economic sense, and it is not fair to families. Simply stated, as I have said many times, we have a broken immigration system that must be fixed. Let us never forget that that the U.S. is a nation of immigrants, and now, more than ever, we need Comprehensive Immigration Reform."
Today’s ruling does not impact DACA that was implemented in 2012. For more information please visit the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services website.
