Costa Announces New Transportation and Climate Investments for California

May 3, 2022

WASHINGTON – Congressman Jim Costa (CA-16) announced that California will receive $555,295,299 in funding under the historic Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to provide Californians with more transportation options, ease congestion in local communities, and reduce carbon pollution across the state.

"The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law is delivering historic investments for clean, sustainable transportation options for Californians," said Costa. "Investing in clean transportation infrastructure will reduce commute times, create good-paying jobs, and improve air quality in our communities. I will continue partnering with state and local leaders to ensure Valley communities are not left behind from these game-changing investments that will pave the way for the 21st century."

The investments total more than $6.4 billion nationwide and are administered under the Federal Highway Administration's Carbon Reduction Program, a new initiative created by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.

As Valley residents grapple with Putin's Price Hike at the pump, this funding will allow California to deliver more transportation alternatives and reduce commute times. These funds can be invested in a range of eligible projects, including:

  • Public transit services
  • Electric vehicle charging infrastructure
  • Traffic flow improvements
  • Congestion management technology
  • Pedestrian and cycle trails
