Costa Announces Investment Grant to Benefit The City of Corcoran From The Department Econ

FRESNO, CA - Congressman Jim Costa (D-Fresno) announced todaythat the Corcoran Joint UnifiedSchool District and the city of Corcoran will receive aninvestment grant from the United States Department of Commerce EconomicDevelopment Administration. The grant will be in the amount of $204,660. Thefunds will be used toward planning and designing a vocational training center.

"The development of the vocational center will improve theworkforce of KingsCounty, in return makingthe region more competitive economically," Costa explained.

Residents from all over the community will benefit fromhaving the Educational Job TrainingCenter built on the grounds of Corcoran High School. Workshops and trainingsessions will be offered during the day, while adults will be able to take advantage of similar classesoffered at night to alleviate work schedule conflicts.

"Seeing the variety of skills available in this region ofthe central valley will only attract more employers, and will serve as afoundation for future economic successes that will benefit both families andbusinesses," Costa concluded.
