CONGRESSMAN JIM COSTA ANNOUNCES GRANT AWARDED IN THE 20TH DISTRICT

Fresno, CA - Today,Congressman Jim Costa (CA-20) announced that approximately $200,000 has beenawarded to United Health Centers of San Joaquin Valley, Inc. in Parlier fromthe United States Department of Health and Human Services. The grant willbe used as supplemental funding to expand the facility's services.

"Makinghealthcare available to those often overlooked by the system is of vitalinterest to us all and these funds will help to promote this important task,"Congressman Costa Stated.

UnitedHealth Centers of San Joaquin Valley, Inc. currently provides health relatedservices to seven cities within FresnoCounty. Theorganization has served as a rural health collaborative that reaches out tounderprivileged communities and offers assistance to members of thosecommunities.

InParlier, individuals can partake in preventative health measures, obtain accessto dental and pharmaceutical services, acquire pre-natal and peri-natal careand receive treatment for a variety of other health related ailments. Thecenter utilizes numerous programs, such as Medi Cal andSliding Fees, to help the people they serve pay for the much needed careoffered by United Health Centers of San Joaquin Valley, Inc.

"Ruralresidents benefit greatly from programs such as these and it is our job tocontinue to do the best we can to implement similar programs throughout theValley," Congressman Costa concluded.
