CONGRESSMAN COSTA ANNOUNCES U.S. DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT FUNDS RECEIVED IN THE 20TH DISTRICT

Fresno, CA - Today, Congressman Jim Costa (CA-20)announced Fresno County as the recipient of fiveDepartment of Housing and Urban Development grants totaling over $13 million. Various cities in Fresno Countywill receive funds from the Community Development Block Grant, EmergencyShelter Grant, American Dream Downpayment Initiative, HOME program and CapitalFund Program.

"Asour communities grow so do housing needs and these funds help various peopleand organizations realize their goal of making housing options available to morecommunity residents," Congressman Costa said.

Fresno County will receive just under $8million from the Community Development Block Grant, American Dream DownpaymentInitiative, Emergency Shelter Grant and HOME program combined. In addition, the Housing Authority of FresnoCity and County will receive approximately $4.5 million from the Capital Fundwhich assists housing authorities in modernization, development, financing andmanagement improvements. The city of Firebaugh is a recipientof the Community Development Block Grant and will receive $706,937 to improvehousing and economic opportunities in urban areas.

"Throughthe use of these funds FresnoCounty cities and agencieswill have the ability to build and maintain various housing opportunities forrural and urban areas alike," concluded Congressman Costa.
