CONGRESSMAN COSTA ANNOUNCES GRANTS RECEIVED IN THE 20TH CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT

Fresno, CA - Today, Congressman JimCosta (CA-20) announced that two health organizations in the 20thdistrict will receive federal funding, totaling near $678,000, from the UnitedStates Department of Health and Human Services. National Health Services, Inc. in Shafter and Clinica Sierra Vista, Inc.in Bakersfieldhave been awarded funds to expand medical capacity and provide oral healthaccess.

"Theavailability of proper health care to all citizens is important and these fundswill help to provide essential health related services," Congressman Costasaid.

NationalHealth Services, Inc. will receive $427,500 to expand medical capacity atexisting health centers. The additionalfunds will allow this organization to help underserved individuals receivehealth care. Clinica Sierra Vista willreceive $250,000 to make available for the first time oral healthservices.

Thesehealth centers deliver comprehensive primary and preventive care to patientsregardless of their ability to pay. Charges for health care services are set according to income and feesare not collected from extremely poor patients.

"Thefunds provided by this grant will aid those who greatly need access to healthcare but cannot afford the financial burden," Costa concluded.
