CONGRESSMAN COSTA ANNOUNCES GRANT RECEIVED IN THE 20TH CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT

Fresno, CA - Today, Congressman JimCosta (CA-20) announced that the United States Department of Labor has awardedEmployer's Training Resource of Kern County $1,753,577 from a NationalFarmworker Jobs Program Grant.

"Theavailability of adequate job training programs to all citizens is important andthese funds will help to provide useful work related services to our migrant andseasonal farmworkers," Congressman Costa said.

Employer'sTraining Resource is KernCounty's local workforceinvestment organization and operates numerous programs related to job placementand training. Through funds receivedfrom various governmental levels Employer's Training Resource is able toprovide assistance at Career Service Centers to the farmworkers in the San Joaquin Valley.

Thisparticular grant will allow Employer's Training Resource of Kern County toconcentrate efforts on expanding farmworkers' access to employment inoccupations identified as having growth potential in Kern County. Energy, transportation and health servicesare examples of such occupations.

"Becauseeconomic growth is cyclical and manages to impact all community members it isimportant that we support and maintain training efforts as it relates toemployment opportunities for all citizens," Costa concluded.
