2007 Congressional Art Competition: Calling All Artistic Students
Fresno,CA - Congressman Jim Costa,D-Fresno, issued a call to all high school students and amateur artists livingin the 20th Congressional District to participate in this year'sCongressional Art Competition.
Each spring, the U.S. House of Representatives sponsors theCongressional Art Competition. "This is an opportunity for high school studentswith artistic talent to showcase and receive national recognition for theirwork," Costa said.
The winning entry from each congressional district will bedisplayed in the corridor tunnel of the Cannon HouseOffice Buildingleading to the U.S. Capitol for one year. Last year's winning piece came from Lemoore High School'sJessica Palmer; who submitted a black and white photograph entitled "End of theTrail" which continues to be on display in Washington today.
The Congressional Art Competition is open to all high schoolstudents residing in the 20th Congressional District. The 20thCongressional District includes parts of Fresnoand Kern Countiesand all of Kings County. All entries must besubmitted no later than March 16,2007.
