Farm Bill
The Farm Bill is a major piece of legislation passed every five years, in which the federal government shapes food and agricultural policy. It provides support for farmers, ranchers, and dairymen and women, but it supports nutrition programs, conservation, crop insurance, and other functions.
This legislative package contains 12 titles that shape and deal with various policy topics ranging from trade, and crop insurance to research. Each title has a broad benefit to the San Joaquin Valley and impacts our food supply chain.

In the 1930s, President Franklin Delano Roosevelt enacted the first Farm Bill as part of the New Deal in response to the Great Depression and the Dust Bowl, with three major goals:
To keep affordable food prices for Americans
To ensure an adequate food supply
To protect America’s natural resources
As a senior member of the House Agriculture Committee, I will be working with my colleagues in a bipartisan manner to craft this critical legislative package. This will be the fourth time that I have helped craft a Farm Bill since being elected to Congress.
This Congress, we have an opportunity to deal with some of the most pressing issues facing American agriculture and families across the nation. I look forward to advocating for policies that will better serve the San Joaquin Valley and our agricultural economy.
