Exercise your Right to Vote

In our democracy, your voice matters. Do not let confusion about voting keep you from exercising your right to vote. Below you will find useful information about voting in California's 16th Congressional District.

How do I check if I'm registered to vote?

Don't know if you're already registered to vote or if you are registered at your current address?

You can check your registration status by calling your county election office:

  • Fresno Registrar of Voters Office (559) 600-VOTE
  • Madera Registrar of Voters Office (800) 435-0509
  • Merced Registrar of Voters Office (209) 385-7541

How do I register?

In California you can now register to vote online as well as by submitting a paper application. Paper applications can be downloaded or picked up at your county election office, libraries, DMVs, and U.S. post offices.

The deadline to register to vote for any election is midnight Pacific Time on the 15th calendar day before that election. For the 2014 elections, the registration deadline for the June 3rd primary is May 19, 2014 and October 20, 2014 for the general. Should you submit a registration application after that date, you will be eligible to vote in the next election.

How do I vote-by-mail?

Any California registered voter has the option to vote-by-mail instead of going to the polls Election Day. Voters are also able to request to become a permanent vote-by-mail voter. The last day to apply to vote by mail for the June 3rd Primary is May 27, 2014.
